Surviving the Battle Royale Onslaught
It is no surprise that the Battle Royale video game genre is widely popular in the gaming world right now, if you are reading this and you don’t know what the whole gist of the Battle Royale genre is, I am more than happy to put you up to speed. A Battle Royale game is one which pits many players against themselves with little to no starting equipment, forcing players to search for weapons and armor to eliminate other players and be the last man standing while also reducing the play area so as to force more player encounters. These games tend to get very frustrating when you always end up on the bad side of the stick without good gear and weapons, usually resulting in you getting eliminated very quickly. In order to last longer and probably win too, I would advise that you follow these few tips:
- Avoid Landing in Hot Zones: I see a lot of players make this mistake when they drop onto the game map, they tend to land in hot zones where a ton of other players are landing and then it becomes a race for who gets a gun first which usually ends up in the slower player getting eliminated. In order to avoid this, land in a place with little to no player activity and take your time in getting your gear and guns ready.
- Know what to look for: Sometimes the rush to quickly arm yourself with gear forces players to pick up the first few things they can lay their hands on, thus filling up the limited space they have for items. You need to know what you do and do not need that will compliment your play style. For example, everybody would need health or armor to survive the rain of bullets from opposing players, those should be the first things you look out for.
- Know the Mechanics and Controls: Every game has its own mechanics and controls and it is your duty to know them if you ever want to win in that game. It is no different for battle royale games, I cannot count how many times I have been eliminated in Fortnite because I forgot that it isn’t Apex Legends and fall damage is very well present in the game.
- Know when to Walk Away: I see people make this mistake a lot when playing battle royale video games, they get into fights they cannot win. For example, players get into gun fights with little to no armor or health, hoping they get lucky and secure the kill. The aim of battle royale isn’t getting the most kills, it is surviving the onslaught and in order to do that, you must avoid some fights and stay alive to fight another time.
- Don’t take the shot until you can confirm the kill: Sometimes when we see enemy players in the arena, we are so eager to get the kill and we fire our weapons but miss and end up giving away our location to the enemy. Unless you are 100% sure you can make the shot and finish the player off, do not take the shot and instead, try to get to a better position where you can secure the kill.
These are just a few things I do when I play battle royale games and as you play them too, you will get experience and come up with tips and tricks of your own to survive the onslaught and be the last man standing.
Until next time, its Demi!
