Digital Over Physical

When you finally  decide to get yourself a video game console, you’re going to need video games to play on it, they complement each other.  There are many video game titles out there to choose from but when purchasing video games for your game library, you have the option to choose between Physical or Digital copies of the video game. I personally prefer digital copies so in this post, I will enlighten you on the advantages of Digital Game Copies over Physical Game Copies and to balance the equation; I will also discuss the disadvantages.

Advantages

  1. Digital Games Copies are not subject to Wear and Tear. This is probably one of my favorite advantages. We all have experienced a situation where our favorite games or movies don’t play anymore because the disc is damaged or worn out, well for digital game copies, you don’t have to worry about that, they a immune to any form of physical damage.
  2. Digital Game Copies are easier to carry around. Thanks to storage devices, you can carry up to fifty (50) digital game copies in a single hard drive and move them from one place to another whereas carrying fifty (50) physical game copies from one place to another is a very tedious task.
  3. Switching between digital game copies is a seamless process. Another awesome advantage, I hate that tedious task of finding my physical game and then ejecting the previous one from the console to replace it and then wait for the console to read the new game and chances are you hate it too. Switching from one digital game to another can be done with a couple of button presses on your controller and before you know it, you’re already playing the next video game.
  4. Faster load times. Everyone hates a loading screen but they are present in a lot of games, with your digital game copies you will experience faster load times.
  5. Digital Games Copies take up less space. The only space your digital game copies take up is your hard drive storage space which would take up no space at all in your bedroom or living room but physical game copies require both room space and hard drive storage space (due to installs and DLCs).

Disadvantages

  1. Download Times. Due to their size, digital game copies take a while to download which can be very discouraging, especially when the internet connection is poor. Once you buy physical games, all you need to do is pop them into the consoles disc tray and you’re ready to start playing(after some system files are done installing on the console).
  2. Digital Game Copies Require an Internet Connection. Suppose you don’t have an internet connection at home, it would be impossible to buy and download digital game copies. In cases like this, you’re better off buying physical copies from the nearest store because these don’t require an internet connection to play (unless it is an online game).
  3. You cannot recycle Digital Game Copies. Suppose you have completed a game 100% and the game has become super boring and repetitive, you would most likely want a new game, you can head over to a video game store and trade or sell your old physical game copies for new ones, something you cannot do with digital copies.
  4. Physical Game Copies can easily be found for cheaper prices. Because there are tons of recycled video game titles out there, you can easily find used copies for a fraction of the original price making them easier to purchase.

You actually cannot go wrong with any side you choose, it all balls down to your preferences.
